Rangeley Public Library's Children's Chalk Art Contest

Description

The Rangeley Public Library is ending “Color Our World” Children’s Summer Program by bringing some color to Rangeley! Children aged 5-18 are invited to participate in our Chalk Art Contest on August 22nd.   Please sign up ahead of time at The Rangeley Public Library.

Check-in Time on the day will be at 10:00 AM, but artists can settle into their space and begin creating art from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Judges will be out and about between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, and the final award will be announced at 3:00 PM back at the Library. Age categories will be judged as follows: 5-10, 11-13, and 14-18. Prizes include age-appropriate science and art supplies, and will be on display in the lobby for the week leading up to the event. 

Rules:

•    Participants MUST SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME. It tells us how many artist squares to lay out on the sidewalk. Open squares on the sidewalk of Main St. and Lake St will be assigned to participants on the day.

THE FIRST 25 TO SIGN UP WILL RECEIVE A FREE FROSTY’S CONE FOR PARTICIPATION!

•    Any street chalk can be used, but for those in need of chalk we will sell bundles of larger and smaller chalk in our Library Gift Store.

•    We are asking for a “scene or character from your favorite story”- from movie, tv, video game, book, or even a family story! Really any story you find inspiring, just so long as it is labeled so we know what story we are looking at!

Chalk art will remain available for viewing over the weekend, or as long as chalk remains. Pictures of all the art will also be on Rangeley Public Library’s Facebook page the next day, and on our website shortly after that. Introduce your kids to the magic of creativity with this charming event!
