Fly Tying Lesson - Leslie Hilyard - Carrie Stevens' patterns

Saturday, February 21, 2026 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Guest tiers will be sharing their expertise with you this winter.  We meet at the shop.  Bring your vise and tools, and some threads.  We'll have the rest of the materials.  Registering in advance is preferable to help the instructor prepare, but if you want to join at the last minute, please do!  (Coffee is provided, but feel free to bring other drinks.)  Classes limited to 8 people.
Leslie is back in 2026 to teach a class in the methods of Carrie G. Stevens. The class will focus on her unique method of construction, material selection and Her very purposeful design. All materials will be provided by the instructor but students must bring their own tools. This includes a vise, scissors, two bobbins and a bodkin. You will leave the class with at least three streamers ready to catch the "Big One" ! We'll be tying some of her most prolific patterns this year, the "Blue Devil", the "Lakewood", and the "Colonel Bates". Tyers of all levels are welcome , however some experience at the vise is recommended as Mrs. Stevens methods are meticulous. Leslie will bring his personal collection of dozens of Mrs. Stevens streamers and memorabilia for a lively show-and -tell that is always a class favorite. We hope you can join Us for a great day of tying, storytelling and camaraderie.

Bring a lunch or plan to order out.
