Legacy Wise: Preparing Estate Documents

Legacy Wise: Preparing Estate Documents

Wednesday, January 28, 2026 (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (EST)

Description

The Rangeley Public Library will be hosting a free LegacyWise estate planning information session on Wednesday, January 28th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Fred Potter, managing member of LegacyWise, LLC, will be here to share information about estate planning documents and how to build and maintain them yourself. Learn about how a well-written estate plan guides end-of-life care, protection during any disability, guardianship for minor children, and how a person will be remembered. The core documents being discussed are pour over wills, living trusts, durable power of attorney, health care directives, and HIPAA Release forms. Fred will also discuss naming a personal representative and trustee, how to avoid the costs and delays of probate, and how to title assets and name beneficiaries. Fred L. Potter earned academic honors at Harvard College, Harvard Business School, and the University of Michigan Law School. He has served as a statewide (New Hampshire) Bar President and the Executive Director of a national legal organization. In his varied law practice, he has facilitated over $3.5 billion of business mergers and acquisitions. On the not-for-profit side, he has established and managed funding facilities for childhood and adult immunization programs in six states. Fred has received national recognition for his information technology expertise. He also served for nearly a decade as an insurance company president. This combination of technology, management, law, and community service, as well as concern for individuals of modest means, has culminated in the LegacyWise® Program. After over five years of development, Fred and his colleagues are rolling out nationally a transformative toolkit which enables low- and middle-income individuals, who otherwise would never see a lawyer or prepare a will, to develop customized estate documents in a group setting. This enables them to continue charitable giving, wisely steward decisions regarding child guardianship, and promote family peace. LegacyWise® is a multi-disciplinary firm coordinating with organizations nationwide to serve low- and middle-income individuals and their families. LegacyWise® is not a law firm and does not offer legal services. If you are interested in attending this free information session, please stop by or call the library at (207)864-5529 to sign up. All individuals who attend this session will be given a $50 coupon to put towards the cost of a LegacyWise Workshop being held on Wednesday, February 4th, at 6:00 PM at the Rangeley Baptist Church.
